The story behind me and my music.

I got into producing music way back in the early nineties where my only piece of equipment was an Amiga 500 running the MED tracker .   For a long time my music making was just a hobby and my tracks, if you could call them that, were only shared amongst friends.

My first real piece of musical equipment was a Yamaha W5 workstation which was followed by a Roland MC-303 and a Yamaha AN1x .  These introduced me to the world of Midi and from there I expanded my interest and knowledge of music production.  I did get into writing some audio software for the Amiga .  Most notably are a plug-in for OctaMED called Midi Companion , W-Lib which is a patch librarian for the Yamaha W5 and a sequencer for the Yamaha AN1x .

As the years went by my Amiga 500 was upgraded to an Amiga 1200 which in turn was upgraded to a Windows PC.  Using a Windows PC introduced me to the world of more powerful sequencing software, VST instruments and VST effects.  The more I delved into my new virtual studio, the less I used my old hardware.

Being a loop based producer I started out with Fruity Loops and now use Ableton Live with a variety of VST instruments and effects.  I only wish I had the tools that I have now back when I first started, things would have been very different. :-)

I have played live on a number of occasions over the years, I even played with just my Amiga and W5 which when I look back on it now was a bit dorky but fun nonetheless.  Over the years I have played at a few minor outdoor events, competitions, clubs and parties.  All of which I really enjoyed but have not played live in a number of years.  These days I tend to concentrate more on the production than the playing live but it would be nice to get back out there.

With regard to my style of music, I don't have a specific style but go with what feels right at the time of production.  This means that in my download page you will find a little bit of something including House, Techno, Breakbeat and Hip Hop.  However, if I was pressed into giving a preferred style I would have to say House.  Check out 'Change For A Fifty' for a perfect example.

dego was chosen as my artist name as it was suggested to me by a friend and it includes the first two letters of my real first and last names.  I found the process of coming up with an artist name as hard as coming up with a name for my tracks.
